Urban Reserves

Portland OR has been in many ways a spearhead regarding environmental ideas. It has the largest urban forest park in the land and its inhabitants are proud to be "green."
This article in The Stump of The Oregonian shows how the process is normally carried out when it is stated that: "On Aug. 18, Oregon's Land Conservation and Development Commission will consider designating 13,500 acres of urban reserves and more than 150,000 acres of rural reserves in Washington County. If approved, this decision will be the culmination of a decade of work to protect farm and forest lands and ensure smart development and future economic opportunity" you can read the whole article here
